HKG - Hong Kong girls look for unprecedented glory

JINAN, China (2nd FIBA Asia U16 Championship for Women): Hong Kong go into a competition in ‘Mainland China’ aiming for unprecedented glory.

By virtue of finishing ninth in the inaugural FIBA Asia U16 Championship for Women at Pune two years ago, Hong Kong are one of the highest ranked teams in Level II from the previous edition.

Pitted against Malaysia, Macau, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan, Hong Kong will draw inspiration from that result as they aim to gain a qualifying game berth.

The top two teams of Level II will earn a place in the play offs for next edition’s Level I against the bottom-two ranked teams of Level I here.

With many of the girls having the experience of having played against their mighty Chinese counterparts in one competition or the other, Hong Kong are for sure one of the leading contenders in Level II.
